Elio Ius, a 2010 inductee

A Look at Elio: by Brian Zelley

* Elio Ius is a former champion boxer
in the forties that became a coach
of the North West Eagles in
North Vancouver and briefly in the
seventies Ius would serve as a coach
of the Astoria Boxing club in Vancouver's
east side.

* Elio Ius would replace his former coach
Tommy Paonessa, Two others that were assisting Ius
would be brother  Mel Ius and Terry Cooke.

In the sixties the Ius team would be a long term
host of the annual BC Bronze Gloves
which was a tournament for 
novice junior boxers and for many
it would be a stepping stone to 
other tournaments in British Columbia
